| Nerja is located some 50 kilometers to the east of Malaga , at the foot of the Sierra Tejera , on soaring precipices high above the sea. Although currently there is a great deal of construction work taking place, Nerja is a very pretty, and still relatively undeveloped corner of real Spain, quite in contrast to the high rise resorts elsewhere on the Costa del Sol . Here you will still find typical white-washed Andaluz houses adorned with geraniums, complete with the cobbled streets in the old town. Nerja is a lively town with many nice restaurants, tapas bars and an interesting nightlife scene. Also for the tourist s pleasure are some good beaches not too far below.

Besides being surrounded by tourist pueblos, the area s main tourist attraction is the Nerja Caves , nestled in the limestone hills. It is a sight to behold and marvel at. Open to the public, annual music and dance festivals are held within its dramatic caverns. At the foot of Nerja town is a winding walkway that joins several coves. There are some nice beaches here as well.
