Playa El Cristo, Estepona - Walking distance from the marina and the town, this beautiful, sheltered cove has a warm, family atmosphere. El Cristo has two beach bars and good parking space. Facing west, its ideal location means longer hours of sunshine, hence a special favorite for sunbathers. The beach has become increasingly popular in recent years and tends to get quite crowded on summer weekends. It has recently been improved and now has showers installed. With its welcoming atmosphere and music playing at two of the beach bars, Playa El Cristo is not to be missed.
San Pedro - Even on Sundays during the summer, you will still find your spot to laze in, since this beach has an extended promenade and numerous beach bars. Many frequent Bora Bora and Guayaba Beach , both at the west end. Meanwhile, to the east are a number of trendy beach clubs - Victor's Beach and Babaloo Beach . Being seen in these fashionable places is a must for the cool and hip!
Playa Nueva Andalucia boasts a number of trendy clubs, including Mistral Beach . Nueva Andalucia has a beautiful setting with well-maintained palm trees, giving it the look and tropical-like ambience of a perfect holiday. Be warned though: parking may be difficult during peak seasons.
Puerto Banus - Want to be amongst the rich and famous? Puerto Banus is absolutely the place to be seen. Protected by a quay, it s a good beach just east of the marina. We suggest spending a day in the Marbella Club where you can relax and enjoy special treatment. Arriving early is a must if you d like to get a good spot for some sun lounging. And yes, parking may be difficult.
Arroyo Beach, Benalmadena - BenalmadenaCosta has nearly 10 kilometers of beach paradise -- from the quiet coves, the family-friendly, to the lively beach parties and water activities, it s all here. The beaches are a mix of man-made, golden sand and shingle, and all are generally well-maintained and clean. Arroyo Beach is situated at the foot of Arroyo de la Miel village and is very popular amongst serious swimmers. The expansive beach has a long promenade, which runs right along the port and the marina. It also has several beach bars and rocky flanges.
La Carihuela, Torremolinos - The most popular resort town of Costa del Sol is arguably Torremolinos , which has retained some elements of traditional Spain. If you arrive before 9:00 am, you can observe that the traditional village slowly waking up and carrying out its chores. By 11:00 am however, everything is eventful and can get very hectic especially on Sundays. Most of the thoroughfares are now pedestrian-friendly, filled with souvenir and craft shops and ice-cream parlors. The promenade has also been recently modernized. Very picturesque and offering terrific views, the whole stretch is well worth a visit.
Costa Tropical is a fresh creation for the coastline of Granada Province, and is perhaps the least known. You will see the mountains running down to the coast creating a rocky coastline of sheltered, sandy coves. The area has remained unspoiled and relaxed, still wonderfully Spanish. With 320 days of sunshine in a year plus quiet coves, quaint villages and tapas, Costa Tropical is something to look out for. The tourist capital of the area is Almunecar , a preferred holiday spot for the Spanish coming down from Granada , Jaen, and Madrid. Not just a seaside resort, Almunecar is a small and busy Spanish town with a regular market, and quite an animated nightlife, with plenty of bars and restaurants to catch your fancy.
La Herradura - Popular with young and old alike, La Herradura is an extensive bay sheltered by two large headlands. This part of the coast is where the sun shines most in the whole of Europe. Winters are short and summers just go on and on. Wonderful? Yes! The town is a typical Spanish overgrown coastal community and fishing village. It s a popular surfing destination and a favorite summer retreat for tourists as well as residents of the city of Granada. Located on the Costa Tropical and enclosed by the Sierra Nevada and the Mediterranean Sea, you can often see dolphins swimming in the early morning. La Herradura also has a choice of bars, restaurants, caf supermarkets and local shops. The towns of Nerja and Almunecar are only a short, scenic drive away, with weekly markets, nature reserves, caves, castles and botanical gardens to offer.
